By 2 July 1966, when this photo was taken, Western SMT 1748 had been transferred to Fife Scottish at Kirkaldy. UCS612 is an Albion Lowlander LR1 with Alexander H39/32F and was new in 1963.
During trials for one man operation conversion Lincoln 82 [MFE994] was hired by Southport Corporation. It is one of seven Leyland Tiger Cub PSUC1/1 with Roe B41D body in the Lincoln fleet. It was new in 1958.
I believe this photo of Alexander (Midland) MPA147 [CWG29] to be taken at Oban. It is a Leyland Tiger PS1 with Alexander C35F and dates from 1950. Midland chose a blue and cream scheme and the Midland Bluebird name was born.
Also at Kirkcaldy depot are, on the left, Alexander (Fife) FE2 [FWG837] a Bristol LS6G with ECW B45F, new in 1955. On the right is FPD195 [OMS271] a 1960 Leyland Tiger Cub PSUC1/2 with Alexander C41F body.
This is a series of photo's taken at London Transport's Aldenham Works. Most were taken at the Open Day on September 16th 1979. All photo's were taken by John Heighway and kindly donated by him. Thanks John.

11TH November - this now completes the upload of all the photos into The Preston Corporation File
A few weeks ago a friend of mine went into a second hand bookshop in Preston looking for some old maps. What he came across was totally unexpected. There were four loose-leaf files containing a vast amount of photos and fleet information for Scout, Standerwick, Bamber Bridge Motor Services, Preston Corporation, Ribble and Crosville. For Preston and Crosville there were also bus tickets in the respective files. All the fleet details had been hand written and, in respect of the Ribble group vehicles, information stating which this person had driven or worked on. This led us to believe that he may have been an employee of the Company. However, there was no name of the person that had built this collection anywhere throughout the folders. The photographs and tickets had been glued onto lined paper, which leads us to believe that they are all bought and not taken by this person. None show any details of who took the photos or when they were taken. I have scanned all the photos and now have them on disc. I will put a few on my site so that you can view them and, perhaps, shed some light on this mysterious person. By doing this, I hope that I am not breaking any copyright rules because, as mentioned earlier, the photos have no names of the photographers placed on them (front or back). They will be put on my site as The . File (with the corresponding operator filling the gap). There are 9 Bamber Bridge, 36 Crosville, 53 Preston, 40 Scout, 22 Standerwick and about 200 Ribble (I have not yet finished editing them yet) photos. The Crosville File can be found on that section of my site. Your comments would be welcome!!
Here are ten of the Ribble photos

Welcome to Shooting the Past Gallery. This will contain mainly black & white photos from all parts of the UK, most of which have been kindly donated by jh. Some, such as the File series, have been moved here from my UK Buses Gallery for completeness. Many of the photos from A-Z of Buses [part 1] have also been moved into this gallery [with a few more to do in the near future]. I hope you enjoy looking through these photos of buses from the 60's and early 70's.
